Why a Certified Pedorthist?
At J.T. Murdoch Shoes, our staff includes Board Certified Pedorthic fitters. A Certified Pedorthist knows shoes, knows how shoes are made and what makes a shoe fit properly.

A Certified Pedorthist knows how shoes can be modified. He/ she knows how to match a specific foot problem with the corresponding prescription footwear. He/ she has the knowledge and the ability to fabricate custom inserts, external shoe modifications, and even custom made shoes.

A Certified Pedorthist is required to continue his/ her education in the field of pedorthics in order to maintain his/ her certification. He is also aware of the latest advances in footwear modifications and related devices and the manufacturer’s latest styles.

A Certified Pedorthist will be very valuable in patient education by instructing the patient in proper use of prescription footwear and providing follow-up care when shoe problems arise.

Certified Pedorthist will monitor and improve patient compliance. A patient is much more likely to wear prescription footwear and receive the corresponding benefits when it is accompanied by the proper fit, instruction, and follow- up that a Certified Pedorthist provides.

A Certified Pedorthist maintains patient records. This can be especially useful in dealing with the ongoing foot changes associated with such chronic illnesses such as diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis.
